Lisbon/Portugal, Feast of St Anthony

12th - 14th June 2011

Lisbon Festival is also known as the feast of Saint Anthony festival is celebrated throughout Lisbon, notably in the Alfama district and on the Avenida da Liberdade where there is a huge parade. The festival consists of food and drink with the locals putting up lanterns and streamers, dancing and singing, in the streets. Fado music can be heard throughout the city and grilled sardines are eaten in huge quantities. During this festival, it is a tradition to offer a small pot of basil to loved ones.

Hafnarfjörður/Iceland, Viking Festival

16th - 20th June 2011

On 16 June 2011 on the soutwest coast of Iceland in the small port town of Hafnarfjörður will begin an international festival of Vikings.

The Viking Festival 2011 is from 16th to 20th of June. The opening is on the 16th at 16:00. The festival activities are fight shows, storytelling, glima, archery, music and much more. You don't want to miss The Viking Festival this year. The markets open at 13:00 and until 21:00. In the evening there will be viking feast at Viking restaurant and stays until 4 in the morning.
